Hi everyone,

So I had an emergency c-section 2 weeks and 3 days ago! My little boy was born at 36 weeks and I was just wondering if you can have a bath when having a c-section or if a shower is better as I have just been having a shower but I would love a bath but I didn't know if I could soak in the bath with my womb and stitches still healing? If so is it just water and no bubble bath?

Thank
You in advance :) Xx

I was told to wait 2-3 weeks. I waited around 3-4 weeks as we have a very high sided deep tub and I was worried about getting in and out of it Grin. I would avoid using any oils, bubbles etc for another couple weeks though. Enjoy a long soak :) xx

Baths are my favourite thing on earth and I’m about to go in for a section. Absolutely dreading this period of not being able to go for one, especially when you’re not feeling well, it’s the one thing that always helps ☹️ I think I would have to wait until it was comfortable enough to lift myself in and out of it though so probably over 4 weeks. I’ve seen people say just plain water or you can add some lavender oil for healing

I've just had one and was told by my midwife team on the day I had my dressing off (day 5) that I could now have gentle Baths. As long as I only dabbed the wound dry and didn't use any strong bath oils

@saamantha19881 it's so strange how different hospitals have different protocol I had a section last year and my dressing was took off 7 hours after and nothing ever put back on?x

Mine was also the same! The community midwife come out to me and took mine of on day 5 also! Can't believe you had yours of 7 hours later! I'm going to wait to go in the bath I think till next week and just continue having showers! X

I’ve had two sections and never been told not to have a bath after. I’m not sure i’d of wanted to lay flat for a couple of weeks anyway. When I had my first DD wr had a shower that was over the bath and at first DH would hold my hand as I got out as it did tug a bit

I know @PinkSpots1994 I did think it seemed so fast but didn't want to argue ?!
