The labour after a precipitate/rapid labour?

Hi all,

I am due today. My last child was a precipitate labour. Apparently it is common for the subsequent child to be even quicker, does anyone have any experience of a labour after a precipitate? TIA

No sorry @Amaranth22. Is there any news yet?

I would say just make sure you contact your midwives at first twinges. They will push back and say not to come in. Be FIRM. Explain history and say you are going in and don’t mind being sent home if it proves a false alarm.

I have 4 children. 2nd child extremely fast labour, 3rd child (learning from previous experience) I headed in when I felt a slight ache in my hip (I was pushy with the midwives) and waters went as soon as I arrived and fast delivery. 4th child was relatively fast but not as swift as previous 2.

All the best!

Yeah my first was 38mins of active labour, second was 17mins.

Your notes will say you’re precipitate, so just say that to the midwife and go in when you begin to feel contractions.

In my experience yes.
The first 2 were pretty average length (5&6 hrs respectively from start to baby in arms).
However, after 11 years break 3rd was 1hr 33 min from the first contraction to DS birth
Subsequent labour was 53 minutes from the first contraction till DD was born.

First 34 minutes, second 2 minutes! Luckily I was already in hospital.

Yes, first baby came fast and second came faster. We had plans in place both with midwives at hospital and with friends to provide quick childcare.

Hi all, just to update- I had the baby today. Contractions started at 7.15am and she was here by 11.16am. This was by far the most painful of my labours, she weighed 8lb 4oz x
