Post C -Section??

Hi I had an emergency C- section 1 week ago with DD1 weighing 9lbs 8oz, and I haven't even lost the 9lbs. Is that normal? I lost 5lbs when I first weighed myself and then a further 2lbs. I'm not overly worried about the numbers I just thought this was unusual. Can anyone relate?

I have been struggling to open my bowels and trapped wind etc which is crippling. But starting to get things moving now. I still look pregnant but guessing that's to do with the swelling and bloat.

Any thoughts or experiences would be greatly appreciated 😁

I won't be much help and I just had an emergency section as well 2 and a half weeks ago 🙈

The weight loss I can't remember, but the bloat was horrific my feet were still about 5 times the size they usually were that took well over a week to calm down.

Did your hospital not give you a bottle of Lactulose (something like that) away to keep your bowels regular?

Surely it won't be long until your community midwife and you can get some advice from them.

Peppermint tea / mints are great for the trapped wind.
Try drinking plenty of fresh orange juice to help your bowel movements.

There will also be lots of fluid retention so keep drinking water, your body will naturally sweat it out or pass it (night sweats for me we're shocking and nobody had pre-warned me of them!)

Oh no I’ve put on nearly 3 stone and about to go in for one.. was totally hoping it would have vanished after the baby is out 🤣 I’m sure as your swelling goes down and blood volume reduces the weight will disappear, it’s probably just too soon

It will be the trapped wind, blood volume and fluid retention. It will go. Drink plenty and keep moving around, eat a good diet and try peppermint tea to ease the discomfort.

@confusedandcurious congratulations!

Please be kind to yourself! It really doesn't matter what you weigh or don't weigh at the moment - you've just had you're gorgeous baby and should be feeling like a queen that you've bossed your birth 💪.

I had an emergency section and it took a while for my belly to go down, though it was very wobbly for a while! 😂

Thanks very much for all your responses. Really appreciate it. One day at a time I guess and I'll try your recommendations too 😁

Also 🤢 at my your typo above!!!

To be clear, the good diet is to help with the trapped wind, definitely not suggesting you need to deprive yourself of calories!
