Vaginal examinations

Hey guys,

Just wondering if anyone here declined vaginal examinations in labour? If so how did you get them to admit you in early labour? I know they often want you to be 4cm before they'll admit you, but what happens if you're not wanting to be examined and therefore wouldn't know how many CM you were?

Thanks guys!

@LemonRizzle that's so awful they didn't stop when you asked them to! So sorry to hear that! It's crazy that we should even have to make it clear that if we say stop, we mean it!

Turns out I'm being induced and so I'm aware there will be some meddling down there but my plan is still to refuse regular examinations and only if I request them or there is a clear medical need which they can explain to me!

Oh good luck with the induction. I posted on the previous page, I was induced & I refused vaginal exams except for specific reasons/medical need. Having the pessary put in was pretty unpleasant but only took a minute, and about 12 hours later I had my baby in my arms!

@goodnightsugarpop ah thats so good to know! I'm hoping my induction is a smooth and quick process, fingers crossed! Glad to know having pessary wasn't too bad! I don't actually know which induction method I'll be having yet so need to question the consultant at my next appointment!
