Bleeding after c section…worried

Hi all,

I had a c section 18 days ago. My wound has been painful and red with a slight smell so my doctor prescribed me some antibiotics which I started taking on Friday evening.

3 days after my section I passed quite a large blood clot which my midwife said was normal and since then my bleeding hasn’t been particularly heavy. Today I passed 2 more which has really worried me. I’m not sure whether this is normal 18 days later? My bleeding has got a little heavier too. I did take a picture of the first clot which was in the pad in case I should show my doctor.

Just wondering if anyone else had anything similar?

I was definitely bleeding big clots for a while, was very scary at some point.

Definitely call the doctors if you’re not quite sure

@weesleekitcowrantimrousbeastie It was fairly big although not 100% sure what would be a normal sized clot. I saw online about them being bigger than a 50p which this was.

I have been slightly more active the past week but since my wound has become infected I’ve started resting much more again over the past few days, so perhaps it’s from being too active.

I feel relatively well in myself, definitely no fever just tiredness and pain from the wound.

I think it’s just scary when you see the clots! I also suffered a postpartum haemorrhage after my section which is also what has scared me afterwards
