Hospital choices to give birth

Hello! Has anyone had any experience of giving birth in Rosie Hospital at Cambridge? Is it good? I am considering it but it is 1 hour away from where i live so this long distance worries me. Any feedback would be appreciated :)

Oh my word

Sorry, let me just compile an essay about how amazing it is!

I also lived an hour away but chose the Rosie as my 2 local hospitals had ok reviews, but I'd heard horror stories

My birth did not go as I planned at all (not the hospitals fault in the slightest) and they handled it fantastically.

Their pre natal care and ward is flawless for so many reasons

My care during my labour was fantastic. I remember I asked for an epidural, it was in my back within 5 minutes!!

I had a midwife with me and only me the entire time. Totally 1-2-1 care.

Honestly fantastic. I don't live anywhere near it anymore, and yet would risk travelling back down to have another baby there

I cannot praise them enough. Fantastic in every way

@mn2022 - thanks so much for your feedback. Everyone i ask for advice they say the same thing - it is far away and you don't wanna risk it, especially at winter time.

Worth the risk IMO.

I lived an hour away with no traffic, more in traffic, and i would do the same over again.

Midwife thought I'd lost my mind and kept trying to get me to switch but im so happy I stuck with my decision.

Additionally, I factored in that they have the BEST neonatal care in suffolk/Essex/Cambridge so if anything did happen, we were in the best place

Also, and this was a major thing for me, (pre covid), husbands/boyfriends/partners were allowed to stay overnight/24.7 which most other hospitals don't offer

@mn2022 - these are all good points. Especially now with Covid 19 where being pregnant is more challenging. I am just thinking that if i am to give natural birth, one hour to get to hospital is a long time.
