Bleeding after CS

I don't know why this has just come to my head . . I'm hoping having c section next week. I know you bleed still, does this start instantly?! Ie if you're still numb do they put a pad on you in theatre when finished?!

They usually put a pad beneath you as you'll have a catheter in - as soon as that came out I put some big pants on (or disposable ones) and put a maternity pad in as I hate feeling "exposed"

I had twins so I bled afterwards for a lot longer - 4-5 weeks but with my first c section with DD it was about 2-3 weeks

It's a bit weird but you'll find if you are near the baby or they cry or you are breastfeeding you'll bleed a lot more and it's just due to hormones and an increase in blood supply to your uterus - the body is an amazing and weird thing! 🤣

I didn't have a pad in until I got dressed the next day after the catheter was removed, I was just lying/sitting on incontinence pads on the bed.

They put a pad under you so they can keep an eye if any larger clots are passed.

They'll put a huge bed pad (and sort of wedged pads between my legs) below you straight after theatre and they changed that for me twice before I was able to get up and put knickers and a pad on the next day - your catheter won't come out for a few hours so you won't be able to wear a pad as such until that's out.

And good luck Flowers

Was wondering this too but had read before about lying on the big pad. How glamorous is that going to be as someone changes you while you’re numb 🙈 can’t wait 😂

I was laying on incontinence pads until catheter out. I bled for 12 weeks after emcs.
