Anyone got any tips/advice on how to manage piles? 35 weeks and im in agony. Can i use suppositories to get rid of them or will they just come back?

Depends on the type - ask your GP? X

Mine are pretty bad on and off, I’m trying to have weetabix and drink plenty of water every day but I think they’re too far gone 🙈 haven’t used anything on them as I’m too scared and they do seem to die down for a while then I’m in agony again!

Chanel05 · 01/06/2021 06:59

I had one appear the day before I went into labour and the doctor prescribed me something with a local anaesthetic in them. However, she told me the cure was childbirth 😬. It was for a while and I'm 8 months pp and still suffering from it!

In my experience once they come they never go unless you have surgery they are bloody awful things and so so painful when they flare up

Julybaby2021 · 01/06/2021 13:41

Doctor is prescribing me cream but theres not much can be done at this stage. Suppositories are too risky this late in pregnancy. So so painful😭😭 oh i hope mine leaves after the birth. They are hateful things. Thanks for all your replies xx

If you don't have other kids and actually have free time ... get in a luke warm bath as often as you can and also lay on your bed and wrap an ice cube in kitchen roll and put it against the area it's the only thing that helped me

JonahofArk · 01/06/2021 14:23

This may not be suitable for you as you're pregnant, but what works for me is using the shower head directly on the area. If you have a detachable shower head, get in the bath, squat, and aim the water at your piles (make sure the water is not too hot!) This approach really helps me: the water cleans and soothes the area, and the spray 'scratches' the area without causing damage. Then dry and apply cream.

Julybaby2021 · 01/06/2021 17:04

No i haven't got any kids. This is my first. I had a bath this morning. It helps whilst in it - then once your out its back to the start. I got anusol cream. Will the cream def help :( i am in agony.

I done the ice thing this afternoon too.. will do it again this evening. Will also get another bath. The pain is just awful right now. 🥺🥺

I think paracetamol are good for the pain OP. I’ve used anusol before but found Germaloids (?) better. They’re so awful though, I feel your pain Sad

AntiHop · 01/06/2021 17:24

I found germaloids the best cream as it has a local anesthetic. When I was pregnant, the gp gave me the ok for paracetamol with low dose codeine (but check with your gp). Beware codeine can make you constipated so it's a good idea to take a laxative with it. Also sitting on a flexible ice pack wrapped in a tea towel. The worst pain only lasted a few says for me

mrssunshinexxx · 01/06/2021 17:30

Honestly @Julybaby2021 I can feel your desperation I'm on the list for surgery on mine so believe me when I say I know how bad it can get. Sorry to say the cream or suppositories did fuck all for me ! Ice ice ice and off your foot as much as poss I was icing for 20 mins 4 times a day . The only thing that gives me relief also (no judgement ) vix ... yes as in what you put in your chest for colds it completely numbs the area

YawnyOwl · 01/06/2021 19:22

Oh and if you don't already know you can get a donut cushion to help keep weight off them when sitting or lying...

Julybaby2021 · 04/06/2021 14:23

Guys did anyone of you ever have heavy bleeding with your piles? Mine have been bleeding a few days now after BM - on wiping. To the point where it's dripping. It has shrank from the start of the week but still very sore. My doctor has now prescribed suppositories which im collecting later.

Anyone any advice? Or experience? I really hate this, its making me so miserable & can't enjoy these last few weeks pregnant 😥 x
