TWINGES AFTER CSECTION

Anybody know how long it takes for aches and pains to subside after a csection. I am now 16 days post section, and still feel very, very sore. Bleeding varies if I have done a little too much walking.

It's one of those how long is a piece of string questions I'm afraid -for me it was about 5 weeks for the post op stuff, other issues were a different matter. There's probably mumsnetters who were ok after a couple of weeks, It just depends on your body and your particular circumstances

In my case, it took a few weeks for the pain to go completely. I remember thinking I was fine, and then the pain would suddenly come back if I walked too far. Do you have any painkillers? I found Voltarol very effective.

i'd give it a good 6 weeks as at this point everything is still knitting together and healing... try to take it easy and avoid too much lifting .. are you taking arnica? that can be good for healing

I think mine was about 5/6 weeks after, and reallly knew if i had done too much that day.
My scar is still numb 5 years later

Mine took about 10/12 weeks but that was probably due to doing too much. My friend was fine 2 wks after. Haven´t had any problems since then though. Every case is different I´m afraid.

mine was 5 1/2 weeks but with lots of extra pain killers due to sewing up internal nerves. I still get twinges at 9 months occasionally.

My first section took about 3 months to feel normal and healed, but twinged every now and then. This time i'm 4 months on and it all feels okay but still get the odd twinge if I do too much heavy lifting.

16 days isn't long, especially as most people 16 days after abdominal surgery aren't caring for a baby!

Take pain killers hon. It's really important that you get some rest and take it easy if you can. Took me about 6 weeks for first C sec, and 3 weeks for second. Go to the loo often, as I found out that it was more painful if bladder was full.

God, poor you lot, I must have been very lucky or stupid to be shopping in Manchester city centre on day 6!! I remember bleeding for a while (about 9 weeks sporadically) but don't remember pains being bad. Keep taking the pain killers and good luck.

take all pain relief for as long as you need. and rest rest rest. The op takes it out of you more than you realise. can take even more than 6 weeks to feel vaguely normal - depends largely on you and your pre op fitness levels. The more you do now though - the longer it may take to feel 100%. I was off pain relief by 2 weeks - but i honestly did hardly anything for the forst 4 weeks.

it's amazing how quick you forget, although last time I had big problems with my pelvis sothat probably took the edge on my previous c-section. Feeling a little better now I am heading into 4th week, been really lucky this time around, hubby been off for 3 weeks so I have had the pressure off. I am coping better with my pelvis this time around although I am on crutches again. Hubby goes backto work on Monday and he is worried sick about how I will cope with a 2yearold and new born. I am not too worried as he will be coming home at lunch and dropping me off at my mum's for the next few weeks whilst I can't drive.
Not tried arnica yet, will give it a blast.
