Hi

Overthinking things really.
I live 30 minutes away from the hospital where im due to give birth.. My daughter Freya came in hour and a half going from 20 minute contractions to 'boom' fully 10cm dilated.

Apparently often your 2nd can come quicker and obviously now have a toddler to coax into the car / get ready.

Trying to work out when to get going as I may need to ignore hospital advice on contractions timing. (due in 5 weeks)

Have you phoned your hospital/asked your midwife?

I’d ask your midwife. Probably you need to go sooner than others would. I went in quite early with my second and could have gone earlier because my first was a cs and they wanted me hooked up to the monitor. DH was let in with me as soon as they established I was in labour as well.

Get as much ready for your toddler in advance as possible such as packing a bag and keeping it by the door. Keep your own labour bag near door or even in car to minimise preparation on the day. Could your care person pick her up if necessary or do you need to drop her off?

I would probably go in as soon as you suspect labour with such a fast first labour.

If you need to drop your eldest off, consider having your partner drive both of you to hospital, drop you off, go back to deposit toddler and come back and meet you at hosp.

Keep talking to toddler about what will happen and maybe do some practice runs so she isn't scared/worried which will slow things down.
