Am I in the latent phase?

Hey everyone, FTM here!

I’ve been having intense and frequent braxton hicks for over a week but since yesterday they have increased in intensity and come with period/stitch like pain in my lower stomach and back. I’ve also been getting shooting pains down low too and was extra moody with my OH yesterday too. The frequency and regularity varies and they’ve been a bit start stop but I do feel like they are slowly getting more intense but not sure if it’s just wishful thinking. I’m paranoid it’s just wind/pregnancy bowl movements (sorry TMI).

We are booked for induction on the 18th and I’m desperate to go into spontaneous labour before then!

As the people on the internet can't possibly know, ring your midwife.

@toomuchfaster

As the people on the internet can't possibly know, ring your midwife.
Even if she was, the midwife will just say to monitor it...

Sorry I wasn’t meaning to ask for a diagnosis or anything but as I’ve not experienced any of this before I was just looking to connect with other people and hear their experiences as I’m not sure what I’m meant to be feeling or doing. I will definitely call the midwife if the cramping gets more regular and painful but at the moment it’s irregular and manageable.

@CrazyNeighbour I do that’s a great idea although not sure I’ll manage more than 30 minutes 😂

With my second I was in the latent phase for a good few days so it could be possible. Good luck!

@KeishaV did this turn out to be labour for you? I'm in a similar situation Smile
Don't want to bother my midwife until I'm sure

This happened to me a few days ago and i thought it was braxton hicks but the contractions got more frequent and ended up in labour and gave birth.
