Sweep today and 2cm dilated

Hello

I had a sweep today at 40+3 due to RFM. The midwife found I was 2cm dilated. They've booked me for induction tmw. The midwife said they won't need to use drugs or a balloon catheter to induce me as I'm already 2cm and she could break the waters with her hand.

Has anyone else experienced this? Just wondering what it's going to be like?

Went into labour naturally with my DS so this is quite different for me.

I haven't been have any contractions as such (not as I remember them) just a tight heavy feeling and the baby feels very low.

I don't have a similar experience to share but when I was induced with DS it took 3 days just to get to 1.5cms dilated. Those 3 days were the worst part of the induction really as I was left exhausted and fed up before anything had really happened. Being 2cms already sounds really positive! Good luck Smile

Fingers crossed things start for you naturally overnight... I’ve been swept at 2cm and things happened within 12 hours afterwards so very hopeful for you.

I was induced when I was 3-4cm and had to wait to have my waters broken. In that time I'd started to labour naturally but they continued to break my waters anyway to speed things up. The contractions went from breathable to not in about 20 mins. They also were back to back. I'll spare you the rest but I will say if baby is moving and you start to labour naturally, allow yourself to do it rather than having interventions. Obviously safely first. All the best Smile

My 3rd was induced at 42wks, my cervix was really favourable and I think my bishop score was at least 7. I was contracting on the monitor but couldn't feel it.

Anyway they popped my waters, told me to get up and go for a wee and that started proper contractions. She was born 2hrs later.

Good luck OP x
