Hi ladies

I've had the pessary inserted at 9.40 and this is my second baby they say they have to wait 6 hours before they can put another one in if nothing starts before then. I was just wondering if anyone could share some of their second baby stories of how long it took for the pessary to kick in? I was induced with my first but they didn't have to wait i between tablets for 6 hours then so it was more smushed together. So I'm hoping it won't take 6 hours just to have another tablet to wait another 6 hours Sad even if anyone has any first time baby stories when the 6 hour rule was brought in, thanks in advance for any info!

I've only had one baby but I had to wait 24 hours in between first and second pessary then another 24 hours before the second and third. Then I think another 12 hours after the third one before they could check to see whether they could break my waters. I was in induction ward from Saturday morning until early hours on the Tuesday.

Sorry, I know that's probably not very helpful!

I hope it all goes well and you're holding your lovely baby very soon.

Like pp, I was told 24 hours between pessaries with my first. I didn’t need the second, baby was born within 20 hours of first pessary. But I think it took about 7 hours for contractions to start after pessary was inserted. Good luck with your birth!

Hi. I was about 12 hours between pessaries as they ran out of beds in delivery so it got paused.. but the plan was 6 hours between each one initially.

Get some good TV and books to watch!! And congrats in advance.

I'm hoping I can get started with just the one! And thank you Smile!

Hi, I was meant to wait 4 hours between pessaries but felt things starting to happen 2 hours after the first went in. The midwife examined me before giving me the second pessary and broke my waters (without meaning to I think). Baby arrived 90 mins later without need for further intervention. I should say this was my second baby and I believe labour may have been on the way naturally anyway. Best of luck today. Such an exciting time!

My cervix just wouldn't open with the first round of induction (3 attempts) then had to have a 24hr break from any induction to start round 2.
My cervix finally opened up on round 2 and needed 2 tablets for that round.

I'm sure it'll be quicker and I hope you have your baby in your arms soon!

SeaTurtles92 · 30/04/2021 11:18

Forgot to add first baby.

So far I've got some back pain and some like period cramps? I think that's a good sign 🤞🏻

Good luck OP, I hope that the baby doesn't keep you waiting too long! X

Girlmama3 · 03/05/2021 11:05

Any sign of the baby op?

amiikaii · 03/05/2021 17:46

Took 23 hours! But she's here! Saturday morning 7.35am 7lbs 8 ozs. ❤️I Was only 3cm dilated after the 6 hours and they couldn't put another pessary in because I was dilated and they where hopeful my body would do it, itself they checked me at 7pm that point would have been 9.5hours and I was still only 3cm but they said they where too busy on labour ward to do anything to induce my labour further and just had to wait and see and if nothing happened they would break my waters at some point in the morningBlush so at 5.30am checked me again, still 3cm dilated so they broke my waters, by 6am I needed to be in the pool to push and out she came 7.35am so much much longer than my first BlushConfused but worth it all the same!
