Should I go into hospital now?

So I had a sweep today around 12pm, prior to that I had my show at around 5am. MW said I'm 2cm dialated Smile

Just before the appointment I was having very mild contractions, they've been getting stronger and more painful throughout the day. I've monitored and timed them and the 2 apps I used have both advised me to go into hospital. Timings show that I'm getting them every 4-5mins for between 40-60s. I've rang triage twice now first time they advised me to take paracetamol and have a bath which I did (more mucus came out), the second time they advised me to ring back when they're 3mins apart.

Not sure what to do now as I though they'd allow me to come in with the current timings. Should I wait it out or ring again and maybe ask to be checked?

Baby seems fine and is moving, I'm a first time mum current 40+5.Confused

It is always a tricky one isn't it! How close I hospital? I'd probably just head up there if I was you, take everything with you. As much as possible, try and keep calm, perhaps play some feel good songs in the car on way up etc.

(Also, I'd probably say don't get in the bath again if you do stay home as it can actually slow down labour getting into water too soon. I was constantly advised to live in baths whilst I was having threatened pre term labour as they wanted me to keep baby in longer!)

Really wishing you the best of luck 💜

Go to the hospital. Don’t call just go. And don’t let them send you home. I went through something similar (3min contractions from the start) and suddenly dilated from 3cm to 10 within an hour at the hospital. You’re safest there so please grab your bag. It’s time and things can move quickly. Wishing you all the best! But be strong! And stick to your guns. Don’t let them tell you to go home again. ❤️

I agree with others I’d go in, just ring and insist on it, heck even lie a little and say they are 3mins apart 😂. My contractions were about that far apart at 6/7pm and by 10pm I’d had my baby, albeit I seemed to progress very quickly and I was already at the hospital being monitored at this point.
Good luck ☺️☺️

Go to the hospital and get some of that lovely gas and air. Annoyingly you have to insist as a first time mum. Second time round, you're the boss.

@TwittleBee we're only a couple minutes drive from the hospital so it's not far at all.

I'm a little anxious about just turning up at their doors especially with the restrictions in place. Currently wide awake lay in bed trying to rest going through the motions, I'll start timing them again for a little while and if there is no change I may just head to hospital.

@miusRus how are you getting on this morning OP?
If you haven't already, definitely head in as soon as you want to❤️

miusRus · 10/04/2021 13:27

Hi everyone I eventually went in at 4am because of everyone's advice, as I had started to bleed heavily and was in absolute agony so I was monitored for a few hours until the bleeding stopped and when I was given the all clear got in the pool however when I was getting my checks done I ended up staying on the bed to give birth to our little Luca at 9:15 this morning weighing 7lb 5oz.

I can't thank you all enough for all your advice. God knows what would've happened if I'd have just done as they told me. Just really so many thank yous ! And sending love from my family to yours

Congratulations, I'm so pleased for you and your family.
Welcome to the world baby Luca.

We got a newspaper for each of ours the day they were born, maybe somebody will buy you one? It's lovely to look back at the news of the day years later. Thanks
