Induced labour contractions

Hello,

I’m currently the second day into an induced labour. So far I’ve had 3 tablet pessaries which didn’t dilate my cervix enough to break my waters so I’m having to wait 24 hours before my next pessary. I had my last pessary at 3am and a doctor carried out a sweep at 9am too.

I’ve been experiencing tightenings since midnight last night and at 2pm today I began having quite contractions lasting about 30 seconds every 5 or so minutes. They died off around 4.30pm.

At 7pm my contractions started going crazy. I’m having 45-50 second contractions every 2 minutes. I feel like they’re pretty intense and I’ve told the midwives but they don’t seem too concerned. They’ve given me paracetamol and codeine but it hasn’t done anything.

Has anyone else experienced such intense, close together contractions after an induction? Did you have to wait until your next exam or did the midwives check you early?

Thanks :-) x

I had intense close together contractions in my last birth with the pessary but after around 5 hours, they stopped and I was eventually put on the drip

They didn't check me at all though. Not until just before putting me on the drip which was around 10 hours after having the pessary

Yes it was horrific. They didn’t believe I was in Labour then checked and I was 8cm and in absolute agony!!!

Yes this is normal unfortunately are you managing to walk alot to ?

Ask for stronger pain relief

Mine came on very intense as you describe.
They didn’t/wouldn’t check me until the time they had previously stated. I was 8cm by the time they checked me and baby born 45mins later. Hopefully you’re not far off, I think I had the intense contractions for 3/4hrs before he was born.

Hello,

Thank you all for your replies.

It turns out I was in labour! After hours of painful contractions and them not examining me my waters broke and baby was delivered hours later.

We’re now home safe and well :-)
