Stop start labour with second?

Contractions started last night think and fast. No more than 4 mins between them (but often more like 2-3 mins between). Clearly (I thought) not a huge rush because they were also varying in intensity and length.

Hospital advised to come in even though I was pretty sure I've got ages. So we went in and stayed for 6/7 hours. I'm fully effaced but baby not really engaged (they couldn't sweep) and not really dilated (though she stretched to 6cm. So they had me stay for a bit saying it could be super fast if my waters go.

Well, contractions petered off to every 8 mins, then ten. Have more or less stopped now (one in the last 45 mins). So we've gone home.

Did have a massive bloody show just before we left hospital.

Anyone else had a stop start second (or more) labour?

I'm thinking tonight might be showtime.

With dd I was in labour/latent labour for three and a half days... ended up with augmented labour.

I had this with my first.
It lasted 4 days on and off😬
Fingers crossed for you!

I've heard about it happening with a first, but never a second!

Just trying to get a few winks of sleep before they start again. Only had a couple contractions that weren't bad in the last couple hours...

I know lots of people it's happened to with seconds thirds ect too.

I can't comment on my second as I was induced anyway.

And currently 39 weeks with my 3rd so can't comment on that one either haha.

Had this with both my first and second.
First it started at 41 weeks and had irregular contractions almost constantly for a week.

My second was pretty similar but lasted around 4 days.
I was exhausted!

It happens many times with people's seconds. Not just firsts.

For completion: baby stopped moving so we went in to be checked. Slight signs of distress (big decels). ARM when I was 4 cm after about 20 hours of irregular contractions (but mostly pretty persistent). Baby arrived an hour later.

Ow. But he's amazing. I was so typical: as crowning saying 'I can't do this I need help etc...' clearly I could because he's here!!

TENS machine throughout and gas and air after waters broken. Wanted pethidon, but he was too far out by then!! Talk about ring of fire.

One internal stitch.

Diclofenac is amazing for after stitches (even if it took several hours to materialise after request...)!

Congratulations!

I'm due in 2 weeks.
Had a 3ed degree with my last baby though so hoping it won't be as bad this time!
