Physio and 3rd degree tear

Hey,
Has anybody had physio after a 3rd degree tear? If so, how did it go and what did it include?
I have my first private physio appointment tomorrow (6weeks pp) whilst my NHS appointment is ages away yet - didn't want to wait that long!
Thanks in advance!

I had a 3rd degree tear a couple of years ago but can’t actually remember how long my physio appointment took on the NHS! I had a couple, they examined me and gave me exercises to do, talked through very detailed questionnaires, they were pretty thorough. I didn’t have any particular problems once I healed though, are you still worried about something ongoing?

@tappitytaptap thanks! That's good to know, do you remember if they did an internal examination? Think that's the bit I am dreading!!
I still have a bit of incontinence (I can make it to the toilet thankfully!!) so that's my biggest area of concern as just want to be back to normal! 🙂

I'm interested to hear how you get on. I was due to have surgery for a prolapse but it was cancelled due to covid. I'd prefer to go down the physio route.

@spaceghetto I'm sorry to hear that it has been cancelled - will definitely let you know how I get on today 🙂

How did it go op? I have mine Thursday (51 weeks and 5 days after I sustained my third degree tear with dd)

Hi!
It went really well - went through my current situation and journey to get to this point, had an internal examination, checked tummy muscles and then went through techniques to support my recovery.
The examination was really good to get an understanding that I don't have a prolapse and to know that I'm not quite engaging my pelvic floor muscles correctly when doing the exercises but the strength of the muscles is there!
Would definitely recommend!
