Induction tonight ... getting very nervous now

Says it all really, birth nerves are really kicking in, not sure how I'm going to get through the day today...

I was induced at 8:30 at night Pheebe and m/w said 'oh it's your first & we'll examine you tomorrow morning & see how things are going, packed me off to bed & DH home.
By 10:15 I was 3cm & in full blown labour so try & be prepared for things to happen quicker than expected. It might not be that way, I skipped a lot of ladies to the labour suite but it's not unheard of. Might not be your first in which case you'll have a better idea of what to expect but I was quite naive.
Hope it all goes well and you're holding your little bundle soon.

However it goes, you will get through it. Try and hold onto the fact that you will have your baby in your arms in the next 24 hours and you just have to get through this marathon first.

Oh and accept the drugs if you need them, don't bother trying to be brave if you are knackered.

Good advice from WMMC, my midwife said to remember that every labour pain should be welcomed as it brings you closer to holding your baby in your arms.

Don't know that I welcomed them exactly but it did make it easier to concentrate on the outcome!

jbck, i've been getting loads of irregular pains already so don't think its going to take much to get me going. this will be number 2 (ds1 is 3 now) which in some ways makes it worse as I had a difficult birth with him, but also better as I can keep hold of the memory of the first moment i saw him and DHs face the first time he held him
Notnow - i'm having another little boy apparently, saw his bits very clearly on the 20 week scan but for some reason the last couple of days i've managed to convince myself they got it wrong and i'm going to be presented with a girl tbh i never minded either way so alls good
DH and DS are both home today so we're making the most of it being the three of us for a little while longer
i'm so nervous and excited i could burst!

Pheebe, I had 2 false alarms with DD so it sounds like you're nearly ready to kick off too.
I'm due Sunday & altho' I'd much prefer to go myself I've started to think if I do need induced it might not be so bad this time as I'd be better prepared. I had quite a rubbish time too ended up with emcs last time but no medical reason why I can't have VBAC, this time so I'm going for it. (Long story of a placental node 1st time round)
We were talking about Xmas last night & I said to DH, presume we'll just have dinner for the 4 of us, we normally go to rellies or have people for dinner but the year DD was born we didn't. It was the first time I'd said the 4 of us & it was quite a big moment. My DD is 6 so it's just been the 3 of us for quite a while but she's so excited I'm hoping the 4 of us will be great.

Jbck - We're just having a '4 of us xmas dinner' too this year, sounds very strange doesn't it.
I put the second car seat in the car a couple of weeks ago and didn't tell DH, he nearly wet himself when he saw it think it wsa the first time it really hit home to him that we're going to be a family of four.
Right, got to call the hospital in 30 mins so better feed the troops...

Hello, i'm a first timer on this site and was reding your messages I was induced with my little boy whose now 19months, huge good luck and remember the pain is productive pain!

Hello everyone who posted, if you follow this one up its all done and we're home. Very quick in the end, 4 hours from ARM to birth. I took them all by surprise by just sitting very quietly with my tens and going from 1 to 10 cm in 3 hours 50 minutes, then taking 2 puffs of gas and air, lifting one hip up to get more comfy and feeling him literally slide down. Lost the plot a bit at that point as I was totally unprepared for the sensation (had an epi last time) but after 10 minutes pushing he was out.
He is absolutely gorgeous, his brother is smitten as are his dad and me

Wow congratulations, how wonderful!

Cheri - funny you should say that cos I felt a bit like a machine, my body really took over and i had these amazing surges that seemed to do alot of the work with me pushing as a back up. Incredible experience but not one i'll be in a hurry to repeat
