Hi ladies
I had dc2 in august and I'm currently pregnant with dc3!

My body is coping really well with the close pregnancies. But I have heard third labours are unpredictable..

DC1 was about 15 hours, natural delivery after episiotomy.
DC2 was artificial membrane rupture induction 7am. Took until 2pm to get to 6cm but he was born 41 mins later! Natural delivery again after an episiotomy.
Now sat here wondering what my third will be like!

Anyone have any third labour stories they want to share? Or two labours close together, was it easier, harder? Anyone had two under one and have any advice?
Thanks Grin

I had my 3rd 17m after my 2nd.

Dc1 was induced at 42wks, pessary, drip, epidural, back to back, ventoused out in theatre, 3rd degree tear and episiotomy and minor pph. About 12-3hrs
Dc2 was my only spontaneous labour at 40+9. Was quite a (nice) slow build up but actual labour was 6hrs.
Dc3, the rascal, was induced again at 42wks. They just broke my waters, made me walk to the loo and she was born 2hrs later.

I've had 4 (5 due June) and dc3 was my quickest and easiest so far.

Good luck!!

Thanks for your reply! Your labours seem to have gotten better each time I'm really hoping for the same. Praying no induction too! Good luck with DC5 hope the birth is kind to you!! Grin

I've got a 1 2 3 4 year old and due to give birth this month not had complications in labour

Notashandyta · 05/04/2021 00:53

Age difference between 1 and 2- 14 months. Next one 18 months later, so just over 2 and a half years between DC 1 and 3!

I also read third labours can go one way or another. My third was a surprise quick labour at 40+6 in bed at home!
By far the easiest- the others were protracted 24 hour hospital ordeals with epidurals.
Good luck, hope it's the same for you!

@mrstobe587 when are you due ? I'm due in Nov there will be a 16 month gap I am nervous about the birth had a section last time I think I want a VBAC this time but I feel so anxious

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 05/04/2021 15:01

Dc1 and 2 less than 18m apart near identical births

Dc3 like a walk in the park, quick and easy

Dc4 quick but harder than dc3

Dc5 awful

DC3 4 hours beginning to end. Fairly easy, chatting to midwife throughout. 2 pushes and out.
DC2 was a picnic! 2 hours from first contraction to baby born, practically pain free. Pushed for 26 minutes so that was a bit annoying.
DC1 3 hours from being in active labour to baby born. Had episiotomy so 10 min pushing stage.
All 3 laboured in water, DC2 and 3 born in water too.
There's just no knowing how things will go though!
Currently pregnant with DC4, hoping for another quick easy one.
Good luck!

Wow @Mother2princess have I read that right 5 in 5 years? That must be very hard sometimes but so amazing to have them so close together! I’ve been quite lucky with my births so far, I had a threatened EMCS due to ds2 heart rate dropping but luckily dilated quick enough to deliver naturally which I’m grateful for.

@Notashandyta that’s a brilliant labour after your first 2! I’m hoping it’s a nice easy one but maybe not quite that fast! 😂

@mrssunshinexxx I’m due in July so there’s 11 months between them! How did you manage after your section was recovery not too bad? This worries me as ds2 is so young! Was it an EMCS or planned?

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE wow 5 dc. I would love a big family like that! I’m hoping for a nice easy third like yours that’s 2 now for positive thirds!!

@Ava50x good luck with dc4 hope it's like yours again, I'm abit jealous of your quick labours even dc1!

It's all seeming pretty positive so far Grin

@mrstobe587 it was classed as semi elective I demanded one after26 hours or labour nothing wrong with baby I had just totally had enough and my epidural hand worked properly so In a lot of pain. The recovery was hard and I think I'll opt for a c section this time I'm not sure I keep changing my mind but my husband should be around a lot over winter his work is like that

MySocalledLoaf · 07/04/2021 13:35

I’ve never actually been in labour but I had two under one (11 months apart) and it’s an amazing age gap, they are so close.

mrstobe587 · 07/04/2021 13:43

@mrssunshinexxx that sounds really tough, at least you will have the support from your DH if you opt for a section! My DH is self employed so we will have to fall back in savings if I have an EMCS so not the end of the world but hoping for natural!

@MySocalledLoaf aww that's lovely! I'm hoping my youngest will be super close because of the small gap!

@mrstobe587 I hope you get another natural and it is straight forward
My dh is self employed too but work is manic over spring, summer, autumn x

mrssunshinexxx · 07/04/2021 15:05

@MySocalledLoaf how was looking after both with the second section?
