Morning all

I’ve tried a search but can’t see a thread for this. Has anyone had a general anaesthetic for a c section? If so, could you talk me through it please?

I’m 32 weeks and I’ve discussed a section with my consultant due to a medical condition and my baby is breech (I know plenty of time to time) due to my medical condition means I can’t have an epidural or spinal block.

I’d appreciate any advice, thanks

Hi @k4rlyb, I had an emergency section with GA after a failed epidural and some complications. It was honestly fine, I woke up a couple of hours after she’d been born so she was dressed etc and had been with my DH and the staff were helping him. I was in quite a mess so not sure if that period of time is usual? But if it is, it did not have any negative impact. She was undressed and placed on my chest and she latched straight away. I was a bit confused initially as I didn’t know she’d been born but it was explained quickly and simply and it was all very calm. Best of luck OP.
