HBAC

Anyone had one or considering one? Had an emcs for 2nd baby due to position but it's really put me off another hospital birth. I know this won't be a popular choice with my consultant and not sure how much resistance to expect! I think a home birth would be amazing if all goes smoothly.

Yes me! I've just hired a doula as I think I will need someone in my corner over the next few weeks as it's likely to be contentious with the consultant when I see them at 28 weeks.
So your first birth was vaginal? I am sure that will help.
I have joined a few homebirth groups on Facebook and a HBAC group they have lots of good info.
Personally I think it best to plan to birth where you feel safest and most relaxed and have a plan of you need to transfer to hospital for any reason.

I had a HBAC last year, second pregnancy. First pregnancy was elective c section due to first twin being breech. The fact you’ve already had a vaginal birth should be a good thing. You shouldn’t have too much resistance but if you do, there are loads of guidelines and really good UK stats that you can arm yourself with. Once they knew I was well researched and not just doing it blindly my consultants were very supportive. My homebirth was amazing x

@Ginmonkey84 @SteffieIUI thank you, yes my first birth was vaginal and no problems. I saw the consultant at 16 weeks and said I wasn't keen for the continuous monitoring on a labour ward hooked up to a machine all the time and not able to move around much and asked if they could just use intermittent monitoring instead and it was a flat no so I'm not really looking forward to bringing it up. Their main concern is uterine rupture but from the research I've done I think the chances of that are very low.

I have also been in touch with a doula as after my traumatic second birth I quite like the idea of having someone who knows her stuff on my side to help me. I think I'll see how things go when I speak to the midwife about the HBAC next week and then hopefully hire the doula. She has said she can't do hospital births due to the one birth partner limit.

It's really good to know your home birth went so well @Ginmonkey84. I have all these ideas of what it will be like afterwards if I am successful just having all the comforts of home and being able to jump in my own bed with the baby and order takeaway etc 😃
