No contractions. Did this happen for you? If so how long did it take for contractions to start?

Yup happened to me, had my baby in August. Had period like pains about 4 hours after, started contractions another 2 hours later then baby born approx 14 hours after that.

If they don’t start within 24 hours they will likely induce you x

Flamingolingo · 27/02/2021 07:17

Yes, both of mine have been a spontaneous rupture. With my first it took too long to get going and I was induced, which was not preferable. With my second it was still quite slow (21 hours until birth) but I did the first 14 or so at home and laboured naturally. You probably do need to phone your hospital and discuss. They usually do like to check it’s waters and no meconium etc.

Exciting op! Let the hospital know!

Waters broke on the Wednesday night, contractions started Thursday night, baby born Friday morning Smilegood luck

polkadotpixie · 27/02/2021 07:22

Waters broke at 4pm on the Tuesday but had no contractions so had to go in to be induced 24 hours later. DS was eventually born by EMCS 11pm on Thursday

MoonMallow · 27/02/2021 07:23

Happened both times to me and I was induced both times as labour was just taking too long to start

Scubalubs87 · 27/02/2021 07:28

Have you spoken to your maternity department? They'll likely give you 24hours for contractions to start until they induce you.
Some of my waters went at 2am. Spoke to my maternity unit at 7am and they asked me to come in for assessment as they thought there might be meconium in my waters. They decided there was a trace - and it really was just a tiny trace.. Broke the rest of my waters at 11am and gave me a couple of hours for contractions to start. They did but not fast enough. Started drip at 1:30 and baby was born at 8:21 pm. The last thing I wanted was an induction but it was fine.

@L3tsD0Th1S2020 if you havent already it’s really important you contact your labour ward - you need to be assessed and they do need to be involved - induction if you don’t have any contractions after 24-48hrs is really important because of risk of infection

BabyElephant2 · 27/02/2021 11:23

Mine broke last night, I’ve been given the choice of immediate induction or leave it 24 hours so I’m patiently waiting for contractions to begin before 7pm tonight!

trevthecat · 27/02/2021 11:24

My waters went at 3:30pm contractions started at 4am the following day. Good luck!

wouldukissafrog · 27/02/2021 11:27

Yes. Contractions cake about 3 hours later - baby was born within 3 hours of contractions starting

L3tsD0Th1S2020 · 27/02/2021 17:39

@babyelephant2 hope it happens for you. Theyre giving me until 5am. Its not nice feeling like I'm on the clock. Cant wait to meet my little human though!

Not looking likely, still nothing so thinking about heading in now Smile

Good luck to you

LouNatics · 27/02/2021 18:47

Yes, it happened to me. Was ideal really as I usually labour fast, so I knew it was going to happen and had time to get all my ducks in a row. The downside was the baby turned back to back when my waters went, but again not a bad thing with a fast labour as it slowed it down a lot. Waters went at about 3am, managed to get everything sorted for older dc and get the midwife to arrive by 8am and sat twiddling our thumbs until about 10am then baby born by 11.30am.

Good luck!
