Bleeding two weeks after c section...is this normal?

Just looking for some advice. I had an emergency c section two weeks ago. The bleeding tapered off a few days ago but since this afternoon i noticed that the bleeding has started again. Its heavier than what it has been....not soaking a pad an hour. Is it normal for the bleeding to start and stop?

My bleeding stopped and started for a good while after both sections, and was particularly likely to restart if I'd been for a long walk or something. I'd say it's normal, but give your GP or midwife a shout if it's heavy enough to worry you.

Thanks @MindyStClaire....that is good to know. It was scary to see it start again after having very little for the past few days. Midwife says as long as no clots...what do they mean by this? There are some stringy bits that i would call like period loss.. I assume clots are bigger and solid?

Mine stopped and started for about a month as well, including some stringy bits.

Thank you @sarah083...i just got freaked out when it started again yesterday as it had eased off. I didn't have a smooth labour and ended up with emergency section so im always fearing the worst....

I bled for nearly 2 months after mine then was advised to see GP who checked me out and said everything was fine. Bleeding can get heavier once youre recovering because you tend to move round and do more. Clots tend to be quite obvious though so you'd know if you had one. Take care and speak to the midwife again if you need to

I bled for six weeks with both of mine. Sometimes a clot can get stuck in your cervix and stop the bleeding. When it dislodges, it starts up again.

Very normal. I bled on and off for 12 weeks after mine.
