Portland or Lindo Wing

Due to a horrible birth, aftercare and 2 surgeries trying to fix my episiotomy cut. I have decided to go private with my second child. Can’t decide between The Portland or Lindo Wing, any honest opinions will be great appreciated!

Wasn't Prince George born at the Lindo Wing? That must cost millions

The Lindo isn't that grand. The back entrance used by the royals is a rat infested, rubbish strewn ally! That aside, St Mary's does provide world class care and has excellent midwives with very experienced leadership

Lindo. If things go wrong being attached to an NHS hospital will be a lifesaver.
Obvs lindo wing exterior isn’t the best.
Saying that my two friends who gave birth at the Portland loved it.

Sorry to quantify that, I was at lindo and there were complications and we both could have died if we weren’t attached to a nhs unit.

I have 2 friends who gave birth at the Portland. I visited and it's really really lovely and seemed absolutely top banana on the maternity care front. I would SO have gone for that if I could have.

Thank you for you feedback so far.

What about Queen Charlotte and Chelsea?

Many good stories lately I’ve heard have come out of new birthing unit in st Mary’s...

Username7521 · 22/02/2021 22:36

Birthing unit isn’t as new as st Mary’s but I haven’t heard anything bad. If you’re in w11 (or thereabouts) you can opt for community midwives so you’ll see the same one

@L4UX

Thank you for you feedback so far.

What about Queen Charlotte and Chelsea?

It's part of the same Trust as St Mary's (imperial college healthcare). So standards and governance should be the same.
