Rods/pessary induction experiences?

Just had a sweep at 39+5 and the midwife has booked me in for either rods or pessary before induction on 40+7.

What happens with these? Are they very painful? I wasn't induced with DC1 but I was put on the hormone drip to speed up labour and it was soooo painful, is it like that?

I was induced with pessaries, it hurts a bit yes as they are tucking them behind your cervix, certainly not agonising thou. Good luck !

@pumpkinpie01 thanks! How long did they take to work? And did they kick start labour or prepare your cervix (🤢) for whatever they do to induce?

I had the first lot at 9am on a Monday, nothing happened, 2nd lot about 7pm, nothing. You're not allowed home then as you are under their care so a night in hospital - nothing. Induced at 10 next day then the contractions started without a build up at 6.40 , there was no stopping and starting it was full on prob about 6 mins apart. Then at 7 a Dr came round to see how I was getting on I said I didn't need another one as I was in labour. He ignored me and tucked another one up there and I actually had a contraction while his hand was up me, yep that hurt ! I then had my little boy just past 11pm so once it all started it was only just over 4 hours. I have never had a drip so I cant compare it to that. You will be fine won't be long before you have your baby in your arms.
