Hi guys, has anyone delivered at Sunderland Royal recently/through lockdown? Was your partner allowed with you all the time and is there a postnatal ward or were there private rooms?

Just waiting (and waiting and waiting....) for labour now :)

I’ve delivered there twice and about to give birth there next week. Partner can come in once your in established labour so 4cm and stay the whole time, if they leave they can’t come back though. You’ll be in a private room the whole time too

DarcyParty · 07/02/2021 11:50

@Bows74 aw that's fab thank you! Very happy with a private room, it was the same at NSEC with DC1. I'm not due to till the 12th so I might see you there Grin

Do you know how long partners can stay after the birth? The midwives haven't told me anything

Until you’re discharged I think, when speaking to the consultants last week I was asked if partner would be staying the whole time nothing was mentioned about a time limit

Arrrrggggh it's starting!! I forgot how painful this childbirth malarky stuff is. On way to hospital soon so we'll see what it's like there.

Good luck!

DarcyParty · 17/02/2021 02:59

Ok so I was 2-3cm when I went in but cervix was nice and stretchy Envy (not envy) so they let me stay and bring my DP in. He's stayed the whole birth and will be here until we're all discharged tomorrow morning

Oh and 9lb 14oz and only a graze to show for it, bloody well done me Grin

DarcyParty · 19/02/2021 19:01

@Bubba1208 congrats!! Boy or girl? If you heard anyone howling like an animal at about 5pm I do apologise, he has a very big head 😁

@DarcyParty boy - 8 pounds 8
I didn't hear any screaming , but that's probably cos I was screaming myself , we ended up using forceps in the end

My little girl arrived early hours Wednesday morning, because I was induced I had to go in alone, dad arrived at 3:10am and baby was born at 3:20am. 5lb 15oz so slightly smaller than both your boys 😂
