VBAC or natural?

I had a traumatic natural birth with DC1 and a C-Section with DC2. It was my choice but I was strongly encouraged in order to avoid tearing.

Now ttc number 3 and thinking about having a VBAC. I just wondered if anyone else has been in this position? My first birth was spontaneous and unassisted, so I feel like I could do it I’m just worried about the risks etc

Has anyone else had one of each and then gone on to VBAC? Or equally chose not to? Just interested to hear peoples experiences at this stage

Presumably you mean VBAC or ELCS? I went for ELCS, much happier with the risks.

Do you mean an elective section?

mamablondie33 · 05/02/2021 11:24

@Tempusfudgeit yes correct. My CSection was also a ELCS and I loved it, but I felt breastfeeding was more of a struggle and the recovery was hard going. So would be open to a VBAC on that basis

I had a tricky first birth but loved the recovery, which was perfect. Was encouraged to have cs with dc2 due to previous shoulder dystocia, so we went for that as the risk was really to dc, not me. Hated the recovery and normally I would say choose VB if possible and you don't have strong feelings either way. But, wouldn't go for a VBAC. That would probably be as much about me as the baby though. I know plenty of women do it though with no problems.

Oh sorry, but given the choice again in my case with dc2, I'd have stil gone ELCS, as the risk was to DC, not me.
