I can't see it but should I wax it??

Am thinking that I should change my name for this but hey..if I can't ask you guys who can I ask.
Am going in for planned c section next Tuesday and I know I need a trim down there cause I don't want a NHS trim up.
Main question is how far do I go. I don't know what is fashionable at the moment. I don't want to get rid of it all and the doctors/surgeons and god knows who else to think I am a porn star (unlikely if you saw the rest of me but I hope you know what I mean).
Asked DP what he thought, he found it very amusing and that I should ask my local GP what he preferred - how very unhelpful!!
So just a little trim, baldy or some other in between design - not sure of all the names, Brazilian?

Oh - brave for a wax - I was too sensitive for waxing so bought some clippers and tidied up that way....... Not sure medics (or you) will be that bothered about it when you LO arrives. But if I were you - just ask for a nice tidy up (Brazilian leaves a small landing strip of hair - a Hollywood takes off the whole caboodle which sounds like utter torture!)

I was thinking I might just immac cause I can't actually bring myself to wax my top lip at the mo!

Beware... I went for a neatening up wax one week before dd1, and the girl nearly refused to do it....I kept having BH's and we both ended up in fits of laughter at the thought of my waters going mid wax, and being pretty on one side, and jungle jayne on the other......

Go for the neaten up tho, at this stage, every little helps

There was someone on here who got the wax stuck and my waters nearly broke reading about it.....I won't post a link just in case but for my CS I would have needed the full monty because they cut so far down it was actually ON my pubic bone!

Can't you get your DP/DH to do the honours to save your blushes?

I suggested that my DH helped me out and he nearly wet himself laughing (no way was the answer). Hhmm not impressed! But if you are sensitive I might suggest avoiding the Immac too as that could be even worse........ (shock)

There is no way DP would go near it!

I have just braved it and waxed my tash and it hurt like hell, is stinging and I still have tufts of hair left so I think I have learnt my lesson and am deffo going to shave and/or immac. Question is how far to go with it. Normally i just shave the lot off!!!

The clippers I got were dead cheap (from Boots). That's an option which is very quick to do! (Might be an idea for when LO arrives!) (hgrin)

Well if you don't do it, take some nice shaving cream and your own razor, otherwise it's a happy shopper NHS disposable for you my dear

empen - veet it would leave fuzz around your privates but def get top and sides done then finish off with trimming what is left. Be warned it might leave a red rash as skin more sensitive (i did mine over weekend and was left a bit red - 31 weeks here).

Whomovedmychoc -I remember that post. Absolutely pmsl reading it. She got stuck to the bath iirc

I managed to wax both above and below (for both eventualities), although it was pretty painful. I was glad I did it as I didn't expect the surge of body hair after your hormones drop and at least one part of my body was not fur-like for a couple more weeks.

My DP also used to give me a monthly shave (which incidentally also tended to coincide with my check ups, so the doctor must have thought I really was a porn star) which he really liked doing. I'd prop myself up on some cushions, chilling music on the stereo, get my book out.... you get the picture. He still does it occasionally, but without the music and I'm usually flicking through the supermarket points card catalogue.....

Body hair surge - you have to be kidding! I wish I had enough money for all over body laser hair removal
Gonna spend a quiet moment or two to myself with a tube of immac and a hand mirror over the weekend and hope for the best!

A quick word of warning with the Immac - check and double check how long to leave it! It sounds obvious but I decided to have a little tidy up myself last week and did the immac and mirror thing.

I can only assume it was baby brain or something but for once I didn't check the packet and convinced myself it stayed on for 10 mins...at around the 8-9 min mark it started to really burn...quickly followed by me racing round my bathroom with flannel, loo roll and whatever I could find to get it off as quick as poss. I eventually leapt into the shower (not easy when 40 wks pregnant!).

It turns out it should have been left for a max of 6 mins....3-4 days of excruciating pain and discomfort followed!!! I'm just glad I didn't go into labour...it would not have been pleasant and would've also been a little embarrassing to explain to hospital staff!!

for cobbly - it says between 5 -10 min on my veet pack for the nether regions. Erring on the least time as skin ultra sensitive.

i would go for waxing. i was going to do it but forgot the day before. hospital gave me a shave but i did not think it was close enough. when it was time to take the staples out some of them got stuck in the stubble. i would definately go for a wax if i were to do this again.

Can I just add my warning against the Immac-ing! I did it at the weekend as an...erm...dry run (30 weeks) and, well, John Wayne had nothing on me! I was lying in bed almost sobbing and convinced that the pain I was feeling there and then had to be 10 times worse than labour could be!

I'd avoid the immac-I ended up with a patchy mohican when I attempted it. If you do use it then remember that gravity causes the immac to run...

Hi i am a qualified Beautitian and had a c section 2 1/2 years agowith my son, they shaved me which is not good. I am booked in for a c section in a couple of weeks with my second child and i will definetly be making a waxing appointment for a trim and the top and sides to be tidyed up a little.

Make sure you get it done properly be a salon and your be fine people only have problems because they dont know what there doing, so many people think its easy to wax yourself, there is a qualification in extensive waxing for a reason.

Just do the top, where the cut will be. Don't do the rest. You may struggle to maintain it at first, and you really don't need to add stubble rash to your pot-natal discomforts. Besides, everyone - including you - is going to be too busy (or too sleep-deprived) to look or care!
