Definitely had a show but does it mean labour is imminent?

Hello

I'm 39 weeks tomorrow with 1st baby.

Have felt different for about a week now. Low period type pains, baby moving much less frequently, almost constant bump tightening.

Went for mw appointment today and had a show when there producing a urine sample. Has happened again twice since. BH feel much stronger this afternoon. MW says this is all looking promising but does that mean I'm likely to go into labour in the next 24/48 hours or am I being optimistic?

it all sounds positive, and things are certainly moving in the right direction

was the show bloody?

you will go into labour soon!

Thanks for responding lulumama

Yes the show had blood in it. I was about to tell mw but she said it first cos she spotted it when looking at her dipstick thing I'd weed on! She said it was registering the presence of blood. Is this the cervix starting to open?

your cervix is starting to thin out and dilate, hence the plug falling out ! blood is also a sign of dilation

but it is a 'how long is a piece of string question'. some women never notice a show, some have one for a a week or more, and some have one in the middle of labour !

ok thanks for that. Fingers crossed it means something soonish (it's my birthday on Thursday so it would be a lovely present)

I have had a really convincing bloody show, complete with plenty of contractions at 39 weeks - but still had to wait another week for the real deal.
