Stages of Labour - how did your second(+) compare?

Obviously no guarantee, but general consensus is that second/subsequent labours tend to be quicker.
I'm intrigued to know how this has translated to the individual stages for people?

My first labour was about 11 hours from first contraction total, however 5 of that was from 8cm to birth (3 hours 8cm to pushing, just under 2 hours actual pushing).

Baby 2 due in the next few weeks so got me thinking!

Definitely quicker. My pushing stage with DS1 was only 15 mins in the first place though, but it was literally 3 pushes with DS2.

I was induced with both of mine but my second was alot quicker. my first was 17 hours from drip going up to baby being born, with over an hour pushing. Second child 3 weeks ago, 5 hours 20 mins from drip to baby, pushed baby out in 4 contractions

I was induced with my first & spontaneous with my second, second was longer by a good 6 or so hours but overall a much nicer experience. Good luck for when the time comes Smile

My first was around 32hrs from first contraction, although it was at least 6hrs from 10cm as little one was stuck and almost needed a caesarean.

Second was little over 7hrs from start to finish but only around 1hr from 6cm to baby being here. Much preferred the second version!

About the same here.
My first was 4 hours of labour. 17 mins pushing according to my notes.
Second was also 4 hours and 9 mins pushing.

The second I noticed twinges throughout the day which I didnt notice with number 1. But those would have been overnight with number 1 so maybe I just didnt feel them.

Thanks for the responses, interesting!

I think I had expected to have a long latent stage with my first, so it threw me off when I seemed to dilate relatively well then slow down. We shall see how this one goes!

1st baby, nightmare!! Hours and hours! Took me 5 years to be brave enough for another!

Number 2! Less than an hour labour born in 2 pushes only just got my knickers off in time haha!
Good luck x
