Grey tissue/placenta/clot 3 months postpartum

I wonder if anyone can help or has had the same thing.
I stopped regular bleeding at about 9 weeks but have been on/off bleeding since then (now 13 weeks pp) and today passed something about the size of my thumbnail and grey and stringy, it looks like tissue not like blood. I have had period type cramps which have been worse today which I had put down to pelvic floor issues but I am now wondering if I have a bit of retained placenta.
It's obviously not serious as I haven't had any infections/temperatures but I wonder if the pain I have been getting is to do with that and not my pelvic floor.

I have been to my gp before about the bleeding lasting a long time and she basically told me I was been a hypochondriac for asking her about it, so I am not too keen on going back to the gp about it.

Has anyone else had the same thing? Is it worth trying to get checked out or is it fairly normal?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Bumping for you Op.
Hope it's nothing to worry about.

Thanks @jumperweather.

Looks like I might be alone in this. For anyone who finds this thread with the same issue, i have spoken to the health visitor who confirmed it was probably placenta but as long as I don't have a temperature or feel unwell it probably isn't infected and shouldn't be anything to worry about.

I expect this was a small amount of retained membranes. If you talk to your local Maternity unit, although you are now outside their remit, they may discuss with the local Gynae unit to do a scan to ensure there are no more-membranes left over. The only concern is whether it is causing an infections and whether they need to give you some antibiotics.

Hi I had this. I would call maternity triage. They may ask you to go in so they can check you and do an ultrasound. They said I had retained products from conception. I had the choice of surgery or pessary tablets. I had the tablets and had to stay on the postnatal ward over night for monitoring. I had to take antibiotics to prevent any infection and have a couple of follow up ultrasounds but I'm all clear now.
