How did you decide between a VBAC and ERCS?

I'm struggling to decide between a vaginal birth after a c-section or an elective repeat c-section. I expect I need to decide within the next four weeks, as that's when my next consultant appointment is. I really don't know what's best for me and it would be enormously helpful if you could share how you decided.

I feel an ERCS would guarantee a positive birth experience but that the best experience would likely be an uncomplicated vaginal delivery. However, the stats show there's only a 70% chance of a successful VBAC and I presume that includes instrumental deliveries which I'd rather avoid.

I had an EMCS 4 years ago due to my baby's breech presentation. It was arranged as soon as I arrived at hospital in labour and is a positive and familiar birth choice for me. I recovered well. However, I have no reason to believe I couldn't have a vaginal birth.

Thank you for your thoughts. I am wearing myself out trying to make a decision.

I've had both and I would choose VB any day especially with covid around.

My elective section didn’t go to plan last time. Spinal block didn’t work and epidural unfortunately didn’t properly cover the pain. I’d like to be in a position for Vbac this time but depends how massive baby is again and what would be in his best interest. It’s all a bit nerve wracking. I’ve a few friends that have had breech babies and c sections though and then gone on to have successful vbacs. Xx
