I know the hospital I was in had no where to sterilise bottles so we had to take in the start packs that are already sterile. Also socks.. my feet were freezing lol. Baby mitts and a blanket. Everything else looks good tho! Good luck xx

Food!

I gave birth in the middle of the nuight both times and there was none of this tea and toast i heard so much about. First time I ate a pack of wine gums as i was ravenous.

Take food.

Have you got sleepsuits for baby? I would take a few, and a few vests. I also had a portable speaker so I could have music on whilst in labour. A cooling spray or spray bottle of water was also an absolute godsend. I was so hot whilst pushing and my husbands only job was to spray me in the face on demand

Take the fem fresh out! That's the last thing your nether regions need after birth! Warm water is fine (and much more soothing!)

oohmyback · 01/01/2021 08:16

Also I would add a squirty water bottle for when you wee after birth!

I laughed at snacks in your baby section!! You'll definitely need snacks but not sure about the baby!

You haven't put sleepsuits on the baby list or blankets? Our hospital wouldn't let you out unless you had them in a blanket. Also your car seat or whatever is in your car? Practise using it as the midwives check your baby is in properly.

I took one of those mini handheld fans and it was great, I'd also take a refillable water bottle with you, back up paracetamol although the hospital does like to give you their own, a little bit of dry shampoo and a touch of concealer and lip gloss did me the world of good after I'd had a shower. I felt so normal again. Also, you haven't put any 'normal' clothes on your list, like day clothes....I really felt ick in my pyjamas and made my husband bring me some leggings and loose dresses. I was in there for 3 days (due to suspected sepsis but I felt fine!) in a heatwave in summer though and needed to get out for fresh air.

Thick socks for you and maybe some pjs as it can get cold on a night an you only get blankets ! Bigger knickers the better too

Baby grows for baby and maybe like someone said a bottle starter pack xx

ivfbeenbusy · 01/01/2021 08:34

Pretty sure you aren't allowed formula and bottles - you have to have the made up starter packs of baby milk (from boots)

Didn't even know you could get a portable bidet??

I would add

Flip flops for the shower
Bed socks

I was just booked in for my c section and told even though I'm having twins I'll only be staying 1 night (2 maximum if I think I need more support 🤣) so I'd probably cut down on the number of nighties etc as if you having a vaginal birth you'll likely be sent home within 6 hours or 1 night maximum.

Don’t think you’ll need soap and body wash. I took shampoo and used it for hair and body. There’s no space for a bag in hospital, so don’t take too much.

I’m sure a towel was provided.

Take cereal bars or something to eat. I was starving. They didn’t feed me for days. I couldn’t leave the bed and the food was in a kitchen somewhere...never found out where.

spidermomma · 01/01/2021 09:17

I took a small suitcase with both mine and baby's things in

Shower gel and your shampoo etc is essential to make urself feel fresh and better. I had a shower about an hour after having all of mine but I'd ask hospital for a towel just so you don't ruin your own!!! Xx

Ahorsecalledseptember · 01/01/2021 09:23

My hair was matted with sweat. I had shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, a shower scrunchy, face wash, moisturiser and loved every one, that first shower after being in labour 17 hours then section was bliss! I also bought a cheap travel hairdryer.

PopsicleHustler · 01/01/2021 12:14

All I need now is a bag of snacks and more ibuprofen. Maybe hubby and I can grab them know the way to the hospital or add them in on the next Asda shop. I'm almost 38 weeks. Wish you all the very best.

Also, what's a portable bidet. I know of an actual bidet but not a portable one. I tend to use just a jug.

PopsicleHustler · 01/01/2021 12:14

Dont forget hair bobbles
you will want.to have your hair back during labour !!!
