how long did you bleed for after birth??

i have just stopped bleeding at 12 weeks post birth - is this normal? how long did you all bleed for??

I only bled for 2-3 weeks.

12 weeks sounds like a long time to me . I think I was more like 2 -3 weeks max

With my first I bled for 12 weeks, but that was only because the doc gave me clotting tabs to stop the bleeding, my second I only bled for about 6 weeks.
12 weeks is a long time to bleed afterwards, what did the HV say?

2 weeks....and then i waited till DD was 8 weeks old when my AF returned...had a period for 2 weeks...yes 12 weeks is a long time.

1st time, 1 week
2nd time, 3 weeks

I think 5-6 weeks for me, and only very light for the last couple of weeks.

12 weeks sounds very long - poor you. Are you taking an iron supplement? you should be careful you don't become anaemic.

I bled for 11 weeks, MummyAnnabella. My GP checked me out and I didn't have any infection. She said some people just bleed for longer than others; so it's normal for some. Might be worth seeing your doctor for an exam (what fun) just to get some reassurance.

On the plus side, my periods aren't back yet and DD is nearly one!

6 weeks of true bleeding followed by another 2 weeks of brown spotting on & off.

6 weeks but then my blooming period came back at 8 weeks. This has happened to me both times, how cruel is that!

2 -3 weeks after my c.s, then 10 days after my vaginal birht, but then had an infection so started again for around a week.

i would check you are not aneamic after bleeding for so long

was about 6-8 weeks for me.

9 weeks, 1 week off then period!! Thought this was normal.....until now!

9 weeks here too. I thought it was long and asked MW who said it was normal

New to Mumsnet, so bear with me.
I bled for 10 weeks. Part of placenta was missing on delivery so I now reckon that may have had something to do with it. i presumed 10 weeks was ok until comparing notes with lucky friends who bled for two weeks etc. Big shock!!
