Emerald Midwives - Lewisham - Vbac - Feeback?

Hi there,

I am due to have my second baby in Feb at Lewisham hospital. I had my first one there and ending-up having a emergency c-section after a pretty tedious labour. This time around I am trying for a vbac and wanted the birth centre, but the head of midwifery recommended the Emerald Midwives unit who specialise in vbac. Anyone has experience with them? Thanks

Hi @feb2021 if you’ve had your baby already, hope it’s all gone well! I’m due in July and in the same situation as you. I’d like to ideally have a Vbac in the lewisham birth centre but I’ve been told that won’t be possible as I’ll need to be constantly monitored. Would love to hear how you got on? Thanks

Hello, I'm hoping for a vbac after a breach delivery at lewisham in November and really want a water birth.... How did you get on?

Hi both, I managed to labour in the birth centre after speaking to the head of midwifery. Unfortunately, as my heart rate was high (and they had trouble picking-up baby’s heart rate), we were moved up to the labour ward. The birth centre midwives came with us and we gave birth naturally there (but not birth pool or epidural as I was to dilated). The emerald midwives followed through my pregnancy and were fabulous.

Ah congrats! Hope you and baby are well! And thanks for taking the time to respond, really appreciate it and really hopeful to hear you were able to labour in the birth centre. Did you ask to speak to the head of midwifery via your midwife or did you contact the birth centre directly?
