I gave birth to DS 2 weeks ago , I ended up with a ventouse delivery , 2nd degree tear. I had a proper look yesterday for the first time and everything just seems so big down there .... when did you start looking 'normal' down there again?

Swelling wise - a couple of weeks for me (i also had 2nd degree tear with dd10)

Icepacks in a piles ring were my friend then.

Not sure exactly but it'll all feel normal by 6 months for sure, it's amazing how down there kinda bounces back to normal 😜

MostDefinitelyNot · 04/12/2020 06:56

Oh I remember that. The horror of looking down a few days after and seeing it all hanging down Blush
Pretty sure by 6 weeks it had mostly gone back to normal.

Give yourself a break OP, you did something amazing!

FippertyGibbett · 04/12/2020 06:58

I wouldn’t describe it as going back to normal exactly, more a new normal !

NewMumOrpington · 04/12/2020 06:58

It took me about 6 months but I got there in the end. Take care OP and congratulations!

I never looked. The best bit of parenting I ever received (and the only one I ever followed 100%)

I had failed ventouse plus forceps plus episiotomy for both my deliveries, many years later happy to report all is completely fine, occasionally I feel the scars (bit like I've cross threaded my fanny somehow, if you know what I mean) but zero impact on anything at all now. Only took a few weeks to settle down. Remember what your fanny has just gone through, any part of your body would be bruised and swollen for a while!

Thanks everyone for replying , I think I'm still in shock from the labour as he got stuck as he was such a big baby - hopefully a few more weeks or months down the line I can start feeling ok again 🙂

I m 4 weeks post partum and had a second degree tear and an episeotomy, it doesn't look quite normal but the swelling really went down in week 3 and there's no pain now.

Chimeraforce · 04/12/2020 14:45

I dunno. I had to sit on a cushion for 6 weeks after and bled for 12 weeks. Finally stopped bleeding, fell down the stairs and it started again. Felt like the world was falling out of my bottom. Didn't have sex for 4 years. Never looked at it.... 14 years on all feels fine and sex is as it was.

Big improvement after 6 weeks but didn't feel completely normal for months. DC2 bounced back very quickly. You'll get there

BeautyAndTheBump1 · 04/12/2020 23:55

At least 12 weeks until it started to look more normal, 6 months post partum and looks nearly as it did before, sometimes it still swells when I've had long days on my feet rushing around but apart from that all is good!
