Octenisan Body Wash Before ELCS?

Has anyone had to use this before and after their section? I'm booked in on Friday and it's just arrived in the post with instructions to shower with it on my body everyday and body and hair every other day from 2 days before the section and then the following 3 days. Letter said they'd normally give it to me in pre op appointment but they're suspended at the moment due to covid. I'm happy to do whatever I need to obviously to prevent infection but didn't expect this. I have really dry damaged hair and a routine with it so I normally wash it once a week, set it with straighteners and products and it keeps it manageable. I'd also planned a nice pamper the night before the operation with nice products to relax me. I know these are really minor things and don't matter in the grand scheme of things but just wondering whether other hospitals do this too (my mum and sister in law who have had sections in the last few years haven't heard of it) and does the product really dry out your hair?

Thanks

Please use it. Different hospitals have different protocols for what happens prior to a c-section which will have been decided by infection control experts who understand the risk of infection in your area and what action needs to be taken. They have given you this to use to reduce that risk so please do it as they have said! It will vary from hospital to hospital and may have changed recently even if others had a section at your particular hospital.

I got given this before my ELCS a few weeks back. I used it the day before and day of the section. I used it afterwards for a few days too. I haven't had any scar infection or problems, not sure if this helped with that or not. I was really nervous about scar getting infected so tried to follow the hosput guidance as best I could.

I'm still using mine almost 2 weeks after my section but that's only for the wound. I didn't use it on my hair with either of my sections and carried on with my usual shampoo. I also used both the hospital wash and my normal shower gel to feel slightly more human!
