I got my first period around the 6 week mark also after a csection. However it wasn't heavy or clots and I didn't get cramps either. I have heard though cramping can be normal postpartum. Btw congratulations!!

Is like to know how long they last too! I'm currently two weeks into my first period after an induced birth at 21 weeks at the end of September, still massively heavy and showing no sign of slowing!

Have just stopped taking my second prescription of iron tablets after a PPH, and have a blood test booked in a couple of weeks, but worried that if this carries on I might need to get on them again sooner 😬

(Might be panicking, but everything is scary right now!)

Mine came back at 7 weeks post c section- I thought I would get a longer break from periods as EBF but apparently not! I have had another period since both have been quite heavy with 2-3 days of period pain but this is what my periods were like pre coil/children. Spoke to nurse about it when baby was having her 12 week imms and she said it’s normal. Also at 6 weeks post section you are still healing inside they cut through many layers and with the changes in your uterus during a period alongside healing/scarring the first couple of periods may be more uncomfortable.

Similar happened to me- bleeding stopped then restarted 4weeks after section with clots- phoned the Gp and they advised to head to hospital and they were right as turned out to be a infection in my womb and those clots were retained products / clots, needed Iv medication and a few days in hospital. Not to scare you but I would definitely get this checked out - I had similar after my first section and listened to the advice of that it must have been an early period ( was for a week then then no period for 6months) and I didn’t get checked and put up with bleeding clots etc . I had a slow recovery compared to other friends who had c section and found intercourse v v painful for months. Fast forward to my recent section they found lots of adhesions and inflammation in my tummy and surgeon asked about my recover first time and suspected I had an untreated womb infection which causes the adhesions and pain. So all in all my advise is take yourself off to the hospital and ask for a internal scan and say you are concerned about retained products and post partUm haemorrhage xxx

I didn't get a period until 6 months after but I was breastfedding. The first period was quite heavy I would say and I am pretty sure I did have clots. The only thing really would be to call and ask the midwives, hopefully they can out your mind at ease

3JsMa · 10/11/2020 14:15

OP,it could be your first period but it could also be something else as it is so close past delivery.
If it feels different from your periods before pregnancy (and yes, they could change but not to the point when you feel really unwell) I would consider calling midwives again and asking if someone could check you.

My first period was sooo heavy, I used maternity pads. It was 7 days long and was pretty much really heavy until the last day. I had clots too.
