anonforthespies43267 · 07/11/2020 20:43

Baby 1 over 9lb, is baby 2 likely be bigger? EMCS with 1. Not sure what to do about no2 & whether to attempt VBAC.

DD1 born weighing 8lb 6oz at 40+5.
DD2 born weighing 8lb 2oz at 40+2.

Good luck.

DuggeeHugs · 07/11/2020 21:12

DC1: 8lbs 15oz at 40+0 via EMCS
DC2: 7lbs 3oz at 38+6 via ELCS

Look at the risks and go with whichever method you feel comfortable with.

weegiemum · 07/11/2020 21:26

Dc1 - 9lb12 at 39+3 - ventouse
Dc2 - 9lb3 at 38+4 - simple delivery

Baby 1: 10lbs. 40w +9days. Very difficult and very long labour, almost ended in EMCS. Lots of drugs and all types of pain relief.

Baby 2: 10lbs 4lbs. 40w + 12. Easy and quick labour, water birth, no pain relief. Used hypno birthing - Highly recommend!

OhTheRoses · 07/11/2020 21:53

DS1: 36.3 7lb 5oz
DD: 41.5 8lb 13oz

DD much much easier - but also had a much much better midwife.

Merename · 07/11/2020 22:01

For me, yes, baby 2 was 10lb 5 and first was 8lb. But she was 13 days late so assume she’d have been a more civilised weight if she came earlier! What’s your consultant saying about VBAC? For me and I think it’s typical, second birth was quick and straightforward, but I’m not sure if that’s due to having had a vaginal delivery before. I think there’s some thinking that big babies can be easy to birth as they have their weight pulling them down! Good luck whatever you do.

Wow lots of variation then! I am not stressing too much about a decision as so much can change closer to the time. Just hope they growth scan me this time!

Not me as both mine were small but SIL’s DS was 10 lb 3 EMCS and DD was 8lb 5 VBAC

Hatepickinganame · 08/11/2020 12:33

1st: 7lb 10oz @39 weeks natural labour just gas and air. 12 hours from waters breaking to delivery.

2nd: 9lb 1oz @ 41 + 3 weeks, natural water labour, back to back though so backache was unreal. Just gas and air, roughly 7 hours from start to finish

3rd: 10lb 6oz @ 40 + 5, induced labour. Again just gas and air, although labour was very intense and I think I blacked out at one point (gas is actually very effective if you don't stop using it!) Was 3 hours from start to finish.

Currently 35 weeks with no.4 and scans so far estimate her weight to be 8lb ish. Not sure how much i trust that....

borageforager · 08/11/2020 12:37

DC1 - 8lb 13oz at 42w, spontaneous labour, forceps birth after 24 hrs labour.

DC2 - 8lb 13oz at 40+2, 3.5 hr lovely homebirth. She’s never been so easy since Grin

DC3 - 8 lb 8 oz at 40+4, 12 hr back to back labour, homebirth

Jenasaurus · 08/11/2020 12:37

DS1 - 6 pounds 10 oz
DS2 - 10 pounds 10 oz
DD3 - 3 Pounds 10 oz

I had preeclampsia with my first and 3rd baby though hence them being smaller. My DD was unduced ar 32 weeks but my DS1 was born at 39 weeks and my DS2 at 40 weeks (1 day after his predicted due date)

My Mum had my older sister at 7 pounds 7 and me 2 years later at 7 pounds so not always bigger second time

sausagedoglove · 08/11/2020 13:30

DD1 5lb 8oz at 38+2

DD2 6lb 0.5oz at 39+0

I make small babies but baby no.2 was bigger!

LynseyLou1982 · 08/11/2020 16:26

My first was 8lbs 4oz at 39+6 my 2nd arrived last week and she was 9lbs 4oz also at 39+6

HarrietM87 · 08/11/2020 16:30

DS: induced at 40+12 (overdue), 8lb 12oz, water birth with gas and air, 3hr labour.
DD: induced at 39+6 (SROM), 9lb 2oz, water birth with gas and air, 2.5hr labour.

Twizbe · 08/11/2020 16:53

DS1 9lb1 born at 38+6, 6 hour labour natural birth and third degree tear
DD1 9lb3 born 2 years later at 40+2, 3 hour labour and water birth no tear.

Despite second baby being bigger she was much easier to deliver

SocialBees · 08/11/2020 17:00

My three DC were all the same weight (to within a couple of oz).
