Question about sweeps/ failed sweeps

Im 40 +1 and midwife attempted a sweep today, she said cervix was about 2cm long and soft but the bit further in was still hard and closed, she could only get a fingertip in and could feel babys head but couldn't get in enough to actually do the sweep properly.
Has anyone had this and gone into labour soon? Or am I looking at going really overdue and induction?

I was 40 exactly, sweep and 1cm, though admittedly it was soft. That was at about 2am. Went into labour about 6am but it was slow labour (all in my back), proper labour kicked off with merconium in the water 4am next day, born before midday. Do lots and lots of walking!

@Ginfilledcats thanks for replying, yeah went for an hour and a half walk this afternoon. Will keep walking every day. 👍🏻 just so uncomfortable now.

When I had a sweep at 40+3 days the midwife said I was about 1cm, immediately afterwards started to feel crampy and started to loose my plug but I wasn't in proper labour I'd say until a further 18 hours later, i defo thinknit speeded things up for me but it wasn't immediate so don't loose hope just yet x

Honestly if it's meant to be it will be.
My first sweep I was 1cm dilated 75% effaced, all favourable etc. Walked for miles, bounced for hours, nothing apart from cramps.
2nd sweep still exactly the same only 1cm, went home and sobbed for 2 hours, had an afternoon nap, sulked the rest of it and refused to walk or bounce...and went into labour that night.
