Giving birth with Arthritis (or chronic pain)

Hi, I’m a first time Mum to be who is 39 weeks pregnant and due for an induction at 40w due to severe arthritis. My arthritis is kept at bay by immune suppression drugs (injected weekly) which I’ve been on throughout my pregnancy. I’ve come off the injections at 36 weeks as they leave me and the baby at higher risk of infection and the delivery team wanted them out of my system in case I needed an emergency C and to bolster Baby’s immune system. I am now experiencing a flare up of pain, stiffness and immobility and becoming concerned about my ability to give birth and look after Baby upon arrival.

Thinking of bringing my induction forward but welcome any experiences of people giving birth/looking after newborn with arthritis or a chronic illness.

Can’t see family support due to Covid but have a wonderful husband who will be there for anything needed during and after labour.
