Outraged!

I'm 4 weeks after having my DS and I was expecting an appointment through from my GP for my 8 week check up. I'm supposed to have my section scar checked, a blood test and a general check over with my GP.
I've had a letter today to say they won't see me and won't do my blood test because they don't want anyone in the surgery unless it's an emergency!
I'm disgusted! The overall care for pregnant women and the after care is practically none existent! We have literally been shelved!
I don't know if anything is wrong with me!
I had hypertension and my doctor is supposed to be monitoring my BP as I'm on medication for it and he told me to go buy a BP machine take my own BP and give him my readings when he calls me next week!

However, they will be sending an appointment through for DS's injections at 8 weeks so why can't they see me at the same time, seeing as though I will be bringing my son to the surgery???
I'll be calling them on Monday to ask the question, but I just wanted to have a major rant as I think it's disgraceful that the health care professionals don't seem to give a shit about pregnant women or new mommy's!
The only time I got amazing care was from when I was actually in hospital, as all of the midwives and doctors were superb!
Rant over!!

No idea what my previous post on this thread was - sorry and please ignore - I've asked for it to be deleted.
I had my baby at the end of November last year and did have a 6 week check. But to be honest it was a total waste of time. I have depression, had gestational diabetes and severe pre eclampsia. I had an emergency c section and was still on BP meds when discharged. My 6 week check lasted a couple of minutes. She asked about contraception, briefly about my mental health and refused to look at my scar even when I asked her to. I had to nag at a later point for a blood test and for any interest in my bp readings.
Post natal care for women is shocking and I'm sorry to hear that lockdown has made it even worse. Keep fussing and make them see you. Good luck.

Postnatal care wasn't great before Covid but now it's non existent. My baby was born 2 weeks in to lockdown and we didn't see anyone afterwards for the routine checks. He had some issues that midwife, HV and Dr all dismissed on the phone. In the end, I broke lockdown rules and took baby to see my mum for an actual physical second opinion and she made me contact a private dr who saw photos and sent us straight to A&E. Things are absolutely being missed and it's just not good enough.

I will definitely be complaining ladies that's for sure! I'll be pushing for my check up when I book my appointment for DS's jabs.
Some sort petition needs to be started or something!
