Hi Cath000

Both myself and a friend had a csection at other hospitals. What I would say is to get some pain medication for the following week or so (whatever the hospital advises you based on your own health, don't take advice from others) as we both received none when we left due to shortages and were expected to get our own from the pharmacy. Stupidly, I thought I would be fine until I made it to the shops but I literally couldn't get up once the pain meds had worn off and needed help getting up in the night just to pee!

Also, they pushed to get everyone home asap. I was home within 24 hours of a csection, and it was way too soon. Ask to stay if you're not ready, or have plenty of help waiting at home to assist.

Good luck!

I had a C section at St Helier 2 years ago. Not sure what the Covid set up is but last time I checked, there were v few Covid patients at the hospital. The cases have climbed in the last couple of weeks but I doubt that it’s mayhem.

I was also discharged very soon which I don’t think is ideal but I’d been there for days prior to the section so was exhausted and ready to go home anyway. Other than that, the majority of the staff were v nice. So,e days it was quite quiet and others it was insanely busy.

I had issues with the food at St H on different wards so would advise to find the meal person ASAP so you can order your meals. In addition to the main menu, there are ethnic menus in case you’re veggie or fancy sth different. You need to chase/ask about that or you’ll go hungry.

Oh, and you can pay extra for a private room if you want. OH might like sth to sleep on as there are only uncomfortable armchairs available.

Thank you both for your comments! I really appreciate it! Can I ask what bit made you feel 24 hours was too soon? Was it the pain? Great tips from you both as well! Thanks again! Xx
