Bleeding 13 weeks after birth

Hi, I've been bleeding almost constantly since birth. 6 weeks worth was definitely lochia, it was similar to after my first baby, and since then I have been bleeding steadily but put it down to being on the combined pill.

Two weeks ago I started passing some small fleshy clots, not like blood clots it looked like tissue. This week the bleeding has got a lot worse, with some small blood clots too, and if I sit on the toilet it drips steadily like a tap. The nurse said on Thursday to stop taking the pill and see what happens but to call back next week if still bleeding. It's definitely getting worse since stopping taking it 3 days ago.

Not pregnant, not breastfeeding, and I had a mid cavity forceps delivery in theatre. I hope it's not retained placenta but surely they would have got it all out in theatre? Not sure what to do.

I had retained placenta and was very unwell due to blood loss. My clots were HUGE, and then passed smaller ones. I would ask for a scan (which is what I had) as you want to avoid an infection. Good luck x

I was about to say the same, my friend had similar bleeding which turned out to be due to a tiny piece of retained placenta. Not sure if you need to contact the hospital or your GP at this point, but please do so ASAP.

I had this for 11 weeks and only stopped when I went on the pill.

Thanks for replies, bleeding got heavier after my post with more big clots so I was checked out by the GP but there's no sign of infection and my uterus is fully back down, but they will refer me for a scan if it continues. Nothing passed since then thankfully. I've stopped taking the pill and it's beginning to ease off, hopefully just caused my hormones.
