Do hospitals do elective c sections at the weekend?

An elective is based on your dates etc they won't schedule one for convenience on a day of your choice

Not as far as I'm aware.

They don't in our Trust. I'm not sure but I think that's generally the case. Is your due date a weekend?

SunbathingDragon · 30/09/2020 18:39

No but if you need one at the weekend (eg you go into early labour and are scheduled for a c section) then they will often still carry it out.

Charpj · 30/09/2020 20:09

Yes it is a weekend

Generally no elective surgery of any kind takes place at a weekend.
If you go in to labour before your booked date or need an emergency section they will do it at the weekend, but they won't plan to.

SunbathingDragon · 30/09/2020 20:21

Usually when your due date is over a weekend, your c section will be scheduled for the following Monday unless there is a reason for it not to be.

I don't know about other Trusts, but ours generally book you in for an elective during week 39. So if you're due on a Saturday, you'd maybe have the CS on the Thursday beforehand.

Have you had any information from your midwife or consultant?
