I know this is a bit of a pointless question as everyone is different,.. but I'm getting induced at 37 weeks tomorrow and husband can't come in until 4cm. Out of interest how long did you guys (if induced at the same stage) take to get to 4cm? Thank you!!!

I was induced at 37 weeks last year. It took about 26 hours from the insertion of the first pessary to active labour (5cm at check). Another 6 hours after that I had my baby.

In the spirit of honesty however, it should have taken much longer. I was extremely fortunate in that the delivery suite was incredibly quiet that night. If there hadn't been the capacity, I would have had a second round of pessaies the following day, if not the day after if there were too many other inductions. In the end, labour only began after the drip went up. It was about 5 hours on the drip until I was in active labour.

Don't be disheartened, but I would bring plenty of stuff to distract yourself with. Just in case. Good luck OP. Hope it all goes well on the day.

@Dyra thanks for your honesty. It's definitely better I'm prepared for the long haul! I have a lot of box sets :-)

I was induced and it took four days in total as nothing put me into a five Labour, I'd be prepared for it to take a while and be happily surprised if it doesn't!

Good luck today.😀

I had my 24 hour pessary at 5am on the day I went into hospital. I was taken to the delivery suite at 7am the next day as my
Bishop score was 7 and my waters broke 48 hours beforehand, but I was only 2cm dilated. I got to 6pm the same day and was still only 6cm dilated and I ended up with a C Section later that evening as my just stopped working.
Another lady in the same ward as me had the 7am same day as me abs was taken to the delivery suite at 2am the next day and had her baby by 6am.
Everyone is different and I think it all depends on whether your body is ready to give birth to baby. Mine clearly wasn't! 😬
