Did the same happen in subsequent pregnancies?

With my first pregnancy, my hind waters broke the day before contractions started at about 38weeks. I am now approaching the same stage this pregnancy and just assume that the same will happen again but have no idea if that is the experience of others or not.

Just had my second and yes the same happened this time! Hind waters went 3 days before EDD!

With my first, my waters broke at midnight 37.5 weeks, and contractions started the next day about 8am. With my second, he went past due date and they had to do a cs as he was growing too big!

First dc waters broke at 36+6 and with dc2 they broke at 38wks.

First baby - waters broke (while I was on the loo... Blush) several hours before contractions started. 4 hours from when contractions did start until birth.

Second baby - waters broke as midwives were examining me to see why things were so stop/start, after I’d been admitted. Baby born about an hour later.

Both overdue though!

DS1 - waters broke at 36 weeks. Didn't go into labour. Kept in hospital, ten days later with hardly any contractions, went into labour and he was born within 4 hours of vague period-like pains starting.

DS2 - waters broke at 36 weeks. He arrived 3 hours later!

Dc1 waters broke at 38+4 and then labour started 5 hours later.
Dc2 I just went into labour at 39 weeks exactly.

Postmanbear · 29/09/2020 14:49

First time waters went at 39+5. Born 8 hours later. Second time waters went at 40+3 and I had a c section 4 hours later.

Yes. Both early and waters broke first with both.

1st- waters broke, contractions started 12 hours later, born 6 hours after that 6 days early.

2nd- waters didn't break, had contractions first for 4 hours then born, waters didn't break at home and was only in hospital 1 hour before she was born so must have gone then. 2 days late.

3rd waters didn't break, contractions first for 2 hours then born. In hospital 45 minutes before she was born. 12 days late.

No. With my first my waters went early in the morning, contractions started mid morning and he was born the next day. Second baby I had contractions first then my waters broke at some point during labour but I can't remember when!

Grimmauldface · 29/09/2020 15:00

First baby contractions started 45 mins after my waters broke. The second was born in his membranes. I spent most of that labour in denial because my waters hadn't broken and I expected it to happen the same way as the first!

Tiredmum100 · 29/09/2020 15:02

No, with dc 1 my waters broke at 34 weeks and I went into labour at 36 weeks. With dc 2 my waters broke about an hour before he was born and after I'd been in labour for about 2 hours.

LynseyLou1982 · 29/09/2020 18:31

With my first my waters didn't break until I was 8cm and they exploded all over the midwife. I'm 35+3 with number 2 now and feel such heaviness below I'm convinced they'll pop everytime I stand up

Ohthereyouarepeter · 29/09/2020 18:44

Ah like most things with pregnancy and childbirth then - different for everyone 😂
