Induction - 10 hours in!

Started being induced at 9pm last night with ds2 at 38+6. First prostin tablet hadnt worked so had another inserted at 3.30am. I feel this isnt going to do much for me, I only feel mild cramps and some tightenings. Before I had the first tablet inserted I was told my bishops score was 3 which I know is pretty low 😔. Anyone had prostin tablets before and have they been successfully?

I was induced at 5am on Monday this week. 24 hours later I was only 2cm dilated but they took me to the delivery suite at 7am the next day as my waters had gone on the Sunday so they set me off on a drip.
If they do this to you, GET AN EPIDURAL BEFORE THEY START YOU ON THE DRIP!
14 1/2 hours later baby arrived via C Section as my body just wouldn't work properly to get me where I need to be to delivery vaginally.
However, everyone is different, as another lady was induced the same time as me and she had had her baby girl naturally by 6am the next morning!
I'm hoping for you it's the latter! All the best 🥰🥰

I was induced with the tablets this time with my DS the first caused me to hyperstimulate but it settled down eventually. I had my second early hours of the morning and when I was re-examined 8 hours after my cervix was favourable for waters to be broken.

In between I spent all of my time walking the ward or. Punching on the ball. I believe this helped tremendously.

Good luck OP!

Bouncing not punching! 🙄

I had my 3rd tablet at 10.30am this morning and I'm due to be examined again at 3.30. I'm having more regular tightenings now and mild cramps but I dont think I've progressed at all. I came in at 1-2cms dilated and the prostin hasnt dilated me any further 😔. If this dose hasnt worked I'll need to stay another 24 hours with nothing being done then restart process again or talk about a c section which I would rather avoid. Missing my ds loads too as I csnt have visitors with all the covid restrictions.

Awwwww @LoveRainbow02 I really feel for you! C Section is not an easy decision to make as the recovery can be brutal and if you have a DS already I would imagine it will x100 times harder!
I'm 4 days post delivery and just starting to become more mobile after mine.
You do what you think is best for you and your family! All the best xx

I was induced at about 38/39 weeks with two of my dc. In both cases they were able to break my waters with just 1cm or so of dilation from the pessary (dc1) /tablet (dc2). So fingers crossed they’ll be able to progress you to the next stage!

GET AN EPIDURAL BEFORE THEY START YOU ON THE DRIP!

This.

LoveRainbow02 · 26/09/2020 18:24

I've had the dreaded drip before with my last ds and didnt take me long to request the epidural lol! I was supposed to get examined at 4.30 to check progress and come up with a plan if needed but the registrar is in theatre and cant check me until he's done, whenever that may be. If I haven't made any progress I'm going to ask to go home for a rest as they cant give me a 4th tablet until 24 hours after the 3rd.

If your waters haven't gone @LoveRainbow02 then defo ask to go home! Mine had so I had to stay in! I wasn't impressed as I was alone for the whole thing!
Keeping my fingers crossed for you it's not much longer!

LoveRainbow02 · 27/09/2020 06:16

I asked to go home last night and they agreed but I had to see a doctor before I left. Doctors were all busy in theatre and I got moved from a private room into a ward just after midnight. Also got told I was next in the queue to be taken to delivery suite and if I let I would miss my slot so I decided to stay in.

Have they broken your waters? I had two pessarys that only got me to 3cm then they broke my waters and my daughter was born 2 hours later.

LoveRainbow02 · 27/09/2020 07:53

No I was supposed to be examined yesterday at half 4 but I've not had a single doctor come to check my progress yet. All pains and contractions have now fizzled out. If I need a 4th dose of prostin this will be given at 10.30 this morning. I was told I was next in the queue to go to the delivery room but I think I'm here for the long haul!

It took me 4 days with DD2: 2 lots of pessaries on consecutive days, a rest day then a drip on the 4th day. All this about a week before Christmas with a 5yo DD1 at home. It was both emotional and gruelling.

LoveRainbow02 · 27/09/2020 08:41

Yes I'm finding it very emotional being away from my ds, hes only 2.5 😔. I've had 3 lots of prostin now, due my 4th at 10.30 after 24 hours off but I'm hoping when examined I can have my waters broken. Labour and delivery rooms are really busy so have no idea when a bed will be available. The waiting around is the worst!
