Big baby

So with my last pregnancy I had gestational diabetes and my baby girl was a big girl at 9lbs 15oz. I am currently 28 weeks and measuring big again. My blood tests come back that I don’t have gd again but midwife seemed very worried when she saw I was measuring big again. I have all the symptoms of gd that I had last time but wasn’t diagnosed last time til I was 32 weeks and they let me go over my due date and caused her to get stuck and I had to have an emergency c section! I have chose to have an elective c section this time around just in case.

If baby proceeds to be big can I request being induced a little earlier? As my last came 6 days over and weight 9lbs 15oz so I don’t really want to let it get that far again as the birth was very traumatic as we both nearly didn’t make it.

I would push for a meeting with a consultant and air your concerns. Dig your heels in!

I'm expecting a big baby, 34 weeks scan baby was estimated to be 7lbs 3oz already! Partners family have a history of chunky babies - 11-13lbs! I'm being induced at 38 weeks which was recommended by my consultant. I'm quite relieved as I'm really struggling with PGP since baby dropped lower into my pelvis!

DS1 was 9lb15 at 42 weeks (no GD) - straightforward birth, no CS. I was consultant led for my second pregnancy and offered additional growth scans and induction on my due date. DS2 was 9lb.

I'm sure in light of your difficult previous birth, they'd be open to scheduling your CS on or slightly before your due date.
