2nd baby earlier or later than first?

I read loads of positive stories about 2nd labours being faster and easier but can’t find much on if they came earlier or later. My first baby was 42 weeks exactly so this one can’t come much later
I’m nearly 39 weeks and impatient, can’t even try and relax/make most of my time as my toddler has seen all that off a while ago!

So when did your 2nd come compared to your 1st?

My second was 1 day earlier... but still overdue by 2 days...
sooo much quicker than the first time around, actually on Christmas Day, he was born on Christmas morning and I was home in time to open presents with DS1 and have dinner 👌

1st was 41+6 (induced) and 2nd at 39+5. My waters went on their own the second time with no other noticeable signs that anything was about to happen, I was convinced that I had another couple of weeks to go.

1st came on his due date.
2nd was 10 days late

First and third both 2 weeks late, 2nd only 10 days late but I had a bad stomach bug so I think that made me go in to labour!

@JustAddCoffee91 amazing that you didn’t miss out on Xmas. I’m so hopeful this one will be quicker/easier!

@alltimejo that’s good to hear, a few days before due date would be ideal. Every time I stand up and the minute I’m disappointed my waters don’t go, its exhausting being on edge all the time!

Second was 5 days earlier

Mine were pretty much the same. 40+1 and the second 39+6

First was a week late.....second was 2 weeks late...sorry...

First was three weeks early and 6 hours, 2nd was a week late and half an hour!

Hmm seems very little pattern, which is better than everyone saying babies came similar times. I doubt I’ll go any later on this one as in a new health board and they induce slightly earlier (I may refuse but I’m pretty fed up already)

Holding on to the stories of going a bit earlier!

DC1 was five days early
DC2 was five days late
DC3 was five days early

DC2 is still always late for everything

1st was 3 days early , 2nd was one day early

1st was 36+3 and 2nd was 36+2.

My first came at 41+0 and my second came at 40+3.

2 wks earlier for second, but had lots of raspberry leaf extract.

42+1
38+6

DC2 was later & faster, but DC1 was 3+ weeks early so DC2 was basically just pretty much on time. Good luck, OP!

This is very encouraging. Currently 37+5 with my second baby, having works done to the house which I very much want to finish first!!

DS1 - 37+5 = 4 hour labor
DS2 - 38+2 = 7 hour labor

I remember getting to 37+5 with DS2 and wailing because he was supposed to be out! Considering I'd been on tablets to stop labor from 30 weeks, you'd think the bigger would have started his arrival when I stopped taking them at 37 weeks but nope.

DS1 came out screaming like a banshee, DS2 took his sweet time and looked like he'd done it all before.

They're exactly the same personalities now and they're 9 & 6!
